The wedding rituals were set more than fifty centuries earlier in the ancient Hindu scriptures. In traditional Indian wedding ceremony all customs are done under the beautifully decorated mandap. Mandap decoration is very essential in a traditional Indian wedding ceremony. Wedding mandaps are very important in wedding. A ritual of jaimala takes place at this wedding mandap. The groom and bride put wreath around each other which are a welcome sign held at the mandap. Mandap is a four pole covering at the center of the stage which is decorated in various styles. The sacred fire at the mandap symbolizes not only enlightenment of mind, knowledge and happiness, but also a clean and pure witness to the ceremony that is in progress.

Mandaps of Indian wedding are decorated by many beautiful colored flowers .The red and silver colors are mostly use to decorate the wedding mandap. Traditionally these colors are symbol of love and prosperity. After modernization the concept is going to change because peoples are now attracted towards western arrangements they prefer color like modern colors like peach, sea green, blue, mauve etc for wedding mandap decoration.
Mandap decoration is really on of the most important part of a prosperous wedding ceremony. The mandap decorations could include beautiful flowers, both fresh and artificial ones. The decoration could also include wall hangings and decorative artifacts. On wedding day bride puts a garland on groom’s neck. It means that bride has accepted groom as her husband with her free will. Like this groom also puts a garland on bride’s neck and accepts her as wife. After this ritual “Saat Phere” ritual is performed in which bride and groom both round seven times around sacred fire. In each round both take promises regards of each other.
‘Mangalsutra’ has very special importance in Hindu wedding. It is a symbol of a married Hindu woman as well as is a holy bond of goodwill and love. Therefore Hindu wedding is known all over the world for its traditional rituals.
